Do I eat before my treatment?
It is best to eat an hour before your appointment, even if its just a healthy snack.
Jill doesn’t recommended that you have an acupuncture treatment when hungry or thirsty.
Is acupuncture safe?
Yes! Acupuncture is very safe. Chinese Medicine is much older than Western Medicine and helps many millions of people every year.
Acupuncturists only use prepackaged, sterile, disposable, single-use needles that are very thin. In British Columbia, licensed acupuncturists go to school for 3 or 4 years to learn Chinese Medicine. Once they pass the required exams and clinic internship, they must pass written and practical board exams before becoming licensed.

What is Qi? ( pronounced chee)
Qi is the Body’s vital energy necessary to sustain life. This Vital Energy is what is stimulated in an acupuncture treatment to bring about healing. Each needle instructs the inner workings of the body’s Qi to join a movement or balancing pathway felt as a light ache, tingle, or feeling of heaviness in that pathway or channel. This is a positive and welcome feeling for the treatment goals to be successful.
Does it hurt?
Most people find acupuncture very relaxing. Jill’s method of needling varies depending on the patients’ needs. It is important that the patient is comfortable with the treatment and understands some acupuncture points will be felt initially with insertion of the needle. This sensation is the activation of that channels’/meridians’ Qi.
Do I need an Herbal treatment?
An Herbal treatment is very useful to address chronic or acute cases of disease. It can be used with acupuncture treatments to speed up the healing process or in some cases used instead of an acupuncture treatment. Jill combines single herbs to design a formula for each patients individual needs. Patients are required to take the herbal formula twice per day away from food.
Jill will discuss Herbal treatment at your initial appointment to decide whether it is an option for you.
How long until I’m better?
Every patients health concerns are unique. Some patients respond quickly and other patients need more time, but there should always be signs of progress or a continued sense of feeling better. Conditions that have been with the patient for years may take longer than someone who has been dealing with some health issues for a few months.
Success is based on many factors including the patients commitment and desires to achieve their goals.
